STATE REQUIREMENTS

The information contained in below is designed to provide a summary of the minimum education, experience and examination requirements established by the Nevada Real Estate Appraiser Board. http://www.red.state.nv.us/alicreq.htm The information can be found in the Nevada Statutes and Regulations. However, we recommend that you contact the Appraisal Board for more detailed information.

Four Categories of Appraisers in Nevada

To Be Eligible for Licensure/Certification, a person must:

Education:

Each level must successfully complete the specified hours of approved real estate appraisal courses for each level of licensure, which includes at least 15 hours on the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). The specified hours are:

75 hours for the Registered Intern classification. This must include three hours of Nevada appraisal law.

90 hours for the Licensed Residential Appraiser classification. This must include three hours of Nevada appraisal law.

120 hours for the Certified Residential Appraiser classification. This must include three hours of Nevada appraisal law.

180 hours for the Certified General Appraiser classification. This must include three hours of Nevada appraisal law.

Experience:

  1. There is no experience requirement for a Registered Interns . Trainees must work under the direct supervision of an appraiser who is licensed in good standing.
  2. Applicants for a Licensed Residential Appraiser certificate shall show proof of at least 2 years and 2,400 hours of experience working as an appraiser or intern .
  3. Applicants for a Certified Residential Appraiser certificate show proof of at least 2 years of and 2,500 hours experience working as an appraiser or intern, including not less that 500 hours of experience relating to complex property.
  4. Applicants for a Certified General Appraiser certificate shall s how proof of at least 3 years working as an appraiser or intern and 3,600 hours experience, including not less than 1,000 hours of experience of appraising commercial real estate of experience .

License/Certificate Renewal:

Appraisal registrations, licenses and certificates are valid for a 2-year period. There is no grace period for renewal.

Continuing Education Requirements:

In order to renew a license, the applicant must show proof of completing 30 hours of approved continuing education programs acquired during the renewal period. These hours must include a minimum of 7 hours of Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).
