STATE REQUIREMENTS
The information contained in below is designed to provide a summary of the minimum education, experience and examination requirements established by the Mississippi Real Estate Appraiser Board.
Levels of Licensure There are five levels of real estate appraiser licensing. They are:

Education:
Each level must successfully complete the specified hours of approved real estate appraisal courses for each level of licensure, which includes at least 15 hours on the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). The specified hours are:
75 hours for the Registered Real Property Appraiser classification
90 hours for the Licensed Real Estate Appraiser (Track One) classification. The classroom hours required for the licensed real estate appraiser may include the classroom hours required for the registered real property appraiser.
90 hours for the Licensed Real Estate Appraiser (Track Two) classification. The classroom hours required for the licensed real estate appraiser may include the classroom hours required for the registered real property appraiser. USPAP education must be completed within 12 months of application.
120 hours for the Certified Residential Appraiser classification. The classroom hours required for the certified residential real estate appraiser may include the classroom hours required for the registered real property appraiser or the licensed real estate appraiser.
180 hours for the Certified General Appraiser classification. The classroom hours required for the certified general real estate appraiser may include the classroom hours required for the registered real property appraiser, the licensed residential real estate appraiser, or the certified residential real estate appraiser.
Experience:
All experience must be supported by documentation on forms provided by the Board.
License Renewal:
Licenses expire two years from the last day of the month of issuance. To obtain a renewal of any of the real estate appraisal licenses, appraisers must make an application and pay the fee not earlier than 120 days nor later than the expiration date of the license then held. Each application for renewal shall be accompanied by evidence, in the form prescribed by the Board, of having completed the continuing education requirements for renewal.
Continuing Education Requirements:
As a prerequisite to renewal, appraisers shall present evidence satisfactory to the Board that 28 hours of Board approved continuing education have been obtained. Of these hours, 7 hours must cover USPAP.
